Dr. Alex Popelansky M.T., M.D.(Russia),
Ph.D. - President of Orthopedic Neurology Research Fund,
Vice-President of Global Vertebroneurology Association. Dr.
Popelansky pioneered scientific collaboration and professional
schooling of the Manual Medicine for physicians in the former
U.S.S.R. at the first ever in the history of medicine Department of
Vertebrogenic Diseases of Nervous System at Kazan Medical Advanced
Academy. Dr. Popelansky was on a faculty of this department as a
Professor of Neurology and Spinal Neurology between 1980 and 1999
when he immigrated to the U.S. For two decades, Dr. Popelansky
instructed countless numbers of generalists and specialists in the
fields of surgery, internal medicine, ob/gyn, and other fields from
around the former Soviet Union. Besides Russia, Dr. Popelansky’s
disciples are currently practicing medicine in Europe, United
States, Canada, and Israel.
After completing his medical training and neurology residency at the
Medical University of Kazan in 1973, Dr. Popelansky joined the
neurology faculty at the Regional Hospital and at the University
Hospital of the Republic of Tatarstan. In 1979, he received a Ph.D
in Neurology from the Federal Spinal Neurology Medical Center of
Science, Kazan, Russia. From 1973 until present, Dr. A. Popelansky
has published more than 140 articles, methodical and instructional
reviews, monographs and textbooks. He is an inventor of 15 Modern
Methods of Efficiency. Many of his publications have a foreground
status in clinical syndrommology, physical examination methodics,
and treatment.
Dr. Alex Popelansky has worked out the “Vibrating
Electrophysiological Vertebrogenic Encephalopathy Test" Three
Cervical Spinal Levels Symptom Complexes have been distinguished and
scrutinized in detail by the author. He has also brought out and
diagrammatically formalized Cervical Vertebral All Segment
Sclerotome Innervations Intercommunity between disk and
circumjacent structures. He was first to describe the new disease
process, Intervertebral Periartrosis, as one of the causes of
headache, neck and back pain, as well as myodystonic and autonomic
vascular reactions. The author has pointed out the Entrapment
Iliopsoas Myogenesis of the Femoral and Obturative Neuropathies.
He has also clinically discerned Suprascapular, Latero-thoracal,
Cocso-Femoral, Abdominal, Medio-Gluteal Locomotor Patterns, and the
Thoracogenic variant of Brachial Paraesthesia. He has drawn around
frames of Anomaly Kimmerle neuropathological manifestation. Doctor
A. Popelansky has elaborated majority of Quantitative Indexes that
make many spinal neurology symptoms objective. He has performed the
Forward Differential Diagnosis on the basis of Fixing – Algesic
Dissociations of the Vertebral Syndrome Components.
Voluntary article about Independent Manual Therapist Working
Complications had tuned out to be vanguard and became the motive
and example for subsequent route of similar scientific observations
in the country. His publications about the use of Manual Therapy in
the cases of tumors, fractures, inflammatory processes, anchiloses,
and fusions have opened alternative scope of the well-known
grandiose method. Dr. Popelansky completed proceedings towards
perfecting the accepted and establishing the own unorthodox
Manual Tractional Technique and Self-Therapy. Giving plenty of
attention to physical therapy, infiltrations, blockades, injections,
fasciotomy, applications, Stretch and Spray, and other efficiency
increasing manipulative techniques, A. Popelansky constantly has
been using these methods in practice – his main scientific
exploratory resource. With co-authors, Vertebrogenic Peroneal
Neuropathy, Toxic Stenosolia Syndrome have been
described, Vertebral Artery Syndrome experimentally modeled.
Dr. Alex Popelansky is an initiator of the idea, evidence, and
verification of the Emotional – Olfactory Integration.
After immigration, Dr. Popelansky has been developing and approving
the Original Manual Correction Help of the Myotonic Syndrome
in the abstinent period of narcomania. While in the United States,
Dr. A. Popelansky learned a special set of Spine and Posture
Pathology Diagnostic and Treatment Methods in Pettibon Spinal
Biomechanics Institute in Tacoma, WA while he was working in Spinal
Rehabilitation Clinic in Kent, WA.
